and design

We put our expertise to use for local authorities, cultural and industrial heritage assets, exhibition curators and artists. Project-focused, we bring together creative, technical and technological resources to transform a place, to say something, through an unusual artistic creation, and to elicit emotions

Our Engagements

ATHEM, a specialist in the staging of urban spaces, operates across two core areas: heritage restoration and artistic creation for brands. Mindful of the impact of its work, the studio is committed to a voluntary process of continuous improvement, assessed in line with ISO 20121, the international standard for sustainable event management.

The studio

ATHEM is a Paris-based studio specialising in the mise en scene of urban spacesFounded in 1985 by architects passionate about urban art, it first became known for artistic interventions on Parisian buildings. Over time, the studio has expanded its expertise to include premium, large-scale outdoor urban media.

Today, working as an artist collective, ATHEM brings together creative, technical and technological talent to reveal and enhance cultural heritage, whether a place, a brand, a product, an event, or an architectural or cultural creation.

Aims

Since the early 2010s, Atelier ATHEM has focused on two core areas: funding the restoration of listed buildings through advertising, and creating temporary or permanent mise en scène for brands, including set design, façade lighting, projections, interactive content and soundscapes.

By transforming a street, a façade or a public space, ATHEM seeks to make each project a singular event, one that carries meaning and generates positive emotion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ATHEM works alongside local authorities, cultural institutions, both public and private building owners, and advertisers to deliver mise en scène projects in the public realm. Fully aware of the impact such work can have, the studio has long been committed to operating in line with the principles of sustainable development, with a strong focus on inclusion, integrity, transparency and responsibility.

In 2020, to formalise this commitment and assess its impact, ATHEM’s management chose to adopt the ISO 20121 standard, a CSR certification specific to the events industry.
